"Creating games in Kodu"
Creating games in Kodu
You can start learning programming without touching the code. One option for kids is Microsoft's Kodu Game Lab visual platform. The child will learn how to create animations and games and begin to understand the principles of programming.
Externally, the program looks like a simplified 3D editor. The interface is as simple and clear as possible so that the child can easily understand it and start learning from the age of 5-6.
The basis of programming in Kodu will be tiles. With the help of them, logical chains, actions, and reactions of characters are built. Here you can create a character who will react to the world around him in the way he is programmed. Each action has its own settings to balance the game. For example, you can adjust the damage from bullets that bots will receive from a game character.
Algorithmic and spatial thinking, creativity and fantasy, sequence of actions, problem analysis and problem-solving structuring, all these skills will be useful for a child not only in the field of programming, but also in school education. Author's lessons and an individual approach will help show the child the basics of game development and give an understanding of how interesting it is for him. If he is drawn into the process of creating game worlds, then in the future it will be easier for him to learn more complex programs and programming languages that can be useful not only for creating games.
